Because of the nature of my work (sewing all day) I've found that putting on a pair of headphones and listening to podcasts is a great way to help me stay focused. Whether I'm in the mood to learn something, hear an interesting true story, or just be entertained, there is always something great. I've compiled a list of my favorite podcasts that I listen to throughout the work week. If you're not familiar with them, podcasts are radio shows that you can subscribe and listen to (typically on your smartphone). I would describe them as free internet radio shows. I've organized my favorites into five lists:

Learn & Expand Your Mind:
Adam Ruins Everything
Freakonomics
Invisibilia
Ted Radio Hour

Business:
Creative Empire
Conscious Chatter
Elise Gets Crafty
How I Built This
Little Awkward Studio
The Unofficial Shopify Podcast

Story Telling:
The Moth
Death, Sex, and Money
Criminal
Love + Radio
Radiolab
Modern Love
The Sporkful
How to Be a Girl
Not by Accident
Strangers
Snap Judgement
This American Life

Politcal:
Call Your Girlfriend
Savage Lovecast
Real Time with Bill Maher
Marketplace with Kai Ryssdal

Health & Philosophy:
That's Deep Bro
Dr. Lo Radio Show
That's So Retrograde
From the Heart: Conversations with Yoga Girl

I hope you find at least one that you like! In my experience, once you get into them, there is a never ending rabbit hole of options. And you don't need to be self employed or work from home to enjoy them! You can listen to them on the bus, on your morning commute, in the kitchen while cooking, with a friend on a road trip, or even on a Saturday morning while cleaning the house!
