Earth Day 2021

Happy Earth Day! I know as a “brand” this is kind of the day for PAC. But really it’s just as important of a day to me as an individual. I do not tout my aprons as eco-friendly because it’s what people want to hear. It’s really important to me in my personal life too. I think about the environment a lot, it’s one of those things that can keep me up at night. I remind myself to just keep doing my best to make environmentally conscious decisions everyday, even though it’s hard as it never feels like “enough.” But then I remind myself that small changes can have big impacts. I encourage you to do the same, whatever your enough is.
Here are some things I do:
-grow as much of my own food as I can
-compost & recycle -avoid buying things wrapped in plastic
-walk whenever possible
-share the food I’ve grown with others
-buy secondhand (that ones easy as I love a treasure hunt)
-truly think about something before I buy it
-research the brands I buy from
-support local businesses (the less an item travels the better)
-use biodegradable sponges, plastic free toothpaste & deodorant
There are additional things I could list, but it's mostly little things like that. But little things do matter. Here’s one of my favorite quotes from the wonderful book 'Braiding Sweetgrass':
“Knowing that you love the Earth changes you, actives you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the Earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond.”
